Latest from Las Vegas: Olive and Thiel team up for online music
olive_thielTwo major high-end audio players, Olive Media in the music server sector and THIEL Audio

in the world of speakers, are getting together with the new system  Olive THIEL HD + Music System (HDMS).

The system, introduced at CES 2010 in Las Vegas, is sophisticated but simple; in fact, it consists of just three components: source, speakers and cables. As source, it has the flagship of the Olive range, the music server 4 + HD: equipped with Burr-Brown PCM1792A DACs at 24-bit, 192 kHz, low-noise hard drives up to 2TB, with a storage capacity of about 20,000 tracks in high resolution or 6000 CD as standard audio CDs, both wireless connectivity (802.11n) and wired (Gigabit Ethernet), it combines the innovative spirit of Silicon Valley - Olive is headquartered in San Francisco - with an attention to quality and details precisely in its hi-end realization. The Olive 4 + allows you to import music from CDs or your PC or Mac computer onto your local network, and then play the digital library; it’s possible to navigate through this using the built-in LCD display or by connecting the HDMI jack to a TV.

Equally innovative solutions are included in the THIEL SCS4D, the speakers included in the kit: these are a kind of bookshelf speaker, two-way that can be placed vertically or horizontally.

Each speaker incorporates a 24-bit DAC and an 200 watt, class D amplifier. The connection between each speaker and the Olive music server 4 + HD works via common Ethernet cables: the system is based on IP technology owned by THIEL, which eliminates the latency that sometimes crops up in these types of solutions based on networking.

The bundle Olive + THIEL HD HiFi Music System is priced at $ 7.900. More information at www.olivethiel.com.
